Fools and geniuses both take risks.
Some would say that a fool takes uncalculated risks and a genius takes calculated risks.
If I cannot tell the difference between a calculated risk and an uncalculated risk, I cannot tell if you are a fool or a genius. Perhaps that says more about me that you...
And what happens if I take an uncalculated risk and it works out.... does that make me a genius or a fool?
I'm sure there are plenty of fools who have taken a risk that has worked out... There are probably a huge noisy crowd who called Christopher Columbus a fool as he sailed off to discover the Americas. This is the same crowd who were silenced when he did not fall off the world as they predicted.
This reminds me not to judge a book by it's cover, as he who laughs last laughs the longest.
When a new path is first seen, or a new idea first shared, it is often rejected by society.
After a while, the new thing is ridiculed and resisted, but in the ridicule and resistance, there is intense social discussion.
Finally, after much debate and disagreement, society admits the new idea makes sense, and the fools are transformed to geniuses in the collective consciousness, and society puts them onto a pedestal of admiration.
