Three years (04/08/2024)

Today, I passed a milestone. Three years walking 10,000 steps per day.  I'm not surprised that it's been three years. And in some ways I am. Three years always seems like a long time at the start, and each day when I prepare for a walk, I just put on my shoes and walk, focusing on the next step. The journey of 10,000 steps begins with a single step... Sometimes when exercise comes up in conversation, or when I say out loud that I don't have enough steps, the story comes out. I walk a lot. And I walk consistently. "When do you walk", they ask me, a little stunned.  "How do you find the time?" I reply: "In the morning before breakfast, at lunch, and again after dinner." I find that it's second nature now, and my daily stroll is part of my lifestyle. "Wow", they say. "That is a lot of walking." They are not talking to me, I know. Not really.
